Legend has it that the original Hurricane was served up in New Orleans during World War II, when whiskey was hard to come by. An Irish Whiskey Bar, Pat Obrien's, received a delivery of rum that wasn’t selling. The creative bartender mixed up a concoction with fresh juices, served in it a glass shaped like a hurricane - and the cocktail became famous.
